Sanctuary 5 is substantial area of thick forest dominated by cork oaks. The large area of the sanctuary gives animals a sense of security, so despite the noise of a nearby sand storage depot, the birds seem unperturbed, and animals such as foxes may be seem resting within a few metres of a busy footpath.
