The Valderrama wildlife Sanctuaries

Since 1991 Valderrama has the Audubon certificate in environmental management and is considered a wildlife sanctuary.

Real Club Valderrama is renowned for its commitment to environmental sustainability, exemplifying a forward-thinking approach to golf course management. We are the first golf club in Europe to implement sustainable procedures to save water, protect the wildlife and save in chemicals and fuel. Since 1991 Valderrama has the Audubon certificate in environmental management and is considered a wildlife sanctuary.

By integrating a range of innovative practices, the club has established a model for sustainable golf course management. We prioritise water conservation through advanced irrigation systems that optimise water usage, reducing wastage and ensuring the fairways and greens remain vibrant. The club also embraces native plant species and employs organic fertilisers, minimising the use of harmful chemicals and promoting biodiversity. These practices not only showcase our dedication to preserving the environment but also enhance the golfing experience by creating a serene and aesthetically pleasing landscape.

The Lake

The construction of a pristine lake reservoir stands as a significant stride towards bolstering the sustainability initiatives at Real Club Valderrama. With an unwavering commitment to both environmental stewardship and resource optimisation, the club’s decision to create the reservoir demonstrates our dedication to a greener future. This reservoir not only addresses water conservation concerns, ensuring a stable water supply for the golf course and landscaping needs, but it also serves as a haven for local biodiversity. By harnessing rainwater and mitigating runoff, the reservoir minimises environmental impact while showcasing the club’s pioneering spirit in harmonising uniqueness with ecological responsibility.

Our commitment to sustainability will continue to grow as we keep investing in different infrastructures that allow us to optimise the use of our natural resources, for a better future.
